Frequently asked questions we thought you’d never ask

Open-cell foams have 3 very important advantages over other types of closed-cell insoles made from rubber, Poron (polyurethane), or EVA.

#1  - Your feet will be healthier (Yes HEALTHIER!)Only open-cell foam insoles can be made antimicrobial to kill bacteria inside our shoe as it’s absorbed into the foam. Because closed cell type insoles can’t absorb any moisture the combined heat and sweat the foot produces creates bacteria growth which can lead to athlete’s foot, foot fungus, and skin disorders not to mention the dreaded stink-foot.

#2 - Pro Max open cell foams have constant air flow circulation that keeps your feet cooler and dryer in summer and warmer in winter. They can also be machine washed as often as needed without reducing their rebound or antimicrobial properties (we recommend every 6 weeks with normal use).

#3 - Your shoes will last longer. With closed-cell insoles, the salt from your foot’s sweat is absorbed into the lining and uppers in the shoe. This will eventually weaken the fiber of these materials causing them to crack, tear and peel. Pro Max moisture-wicking microfiber top absorbs the sweat into the foams.

Easy, first, remove the insole from your shoe and place it in a small pan filled with water. Squeeze the insole and release it while holding it down in the water. Then remove your insole and squeeze it again to see if it’s holding water like a sponge. If a considerable amount of water comes out it’s likely an open cell foam but if very little water comes out it’s a closed cell foam. Note: some water may likely come out of a closed cell foam due to the cover material made of fabric holding a small amount of excess water.
